Don Omar King of Kings

According to the news, Reggaeton superstar Don Omar will be on the roud for his first U.S. tour next month to promote his latest album King of Kings. Titled the “King of Kings Tour,” the “journey” will start on October 13 in Atlanta, GA and will end up with two consecutive performances in Don Omar’s native Puerto Rico on December. His album King of Kings sure doesn’t seem like Don Omar’s impressive debut album from 2003 The Last Don, despite the fact that, the reggaeton had been generally defined by a trademark rhythm. As he got us used to, Omar songs from King of Kings, are deep and worthy of reflection but there are also some suggestive party songs.

I’ve always envisioned the King of Kings project as my opportunity to push beyond the limits of reggaeton and bring a new level of artistry and innovation to my music. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this vision to life now with an incredible live show for my fans across the United States.

Daddy Yankee

Billboard announced Thursday that Daddy Yankee, one of the biggest reggaeton stars, is on top of the list of finalists for 2006 Billboard Latin Awards with 10 nominations for Hot Latin Songs Artist, Songwriter of the Year, Artist of the Year etc. Daddy Yankee’s album Barrio fino en directo, released on December 2005, is also nominate for Reggaeton Album of the Year. On the second place stands the young Mexican group RBD with nine nominations. Their albums released in 2005 on EMI/Televisa are finalists in the duo or group category of the Latin pop albums field.

The awards ceremony takes place on April 27th at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach in Miami and will be telecast live on Spanish-language network Telemundo.

Honestly, I accidentally listened RBD and I wasn’t expecting to so many nominations for them. I cannot say the same thing for Daddy Yankee or for any Latin celebrities such as: Shakira who also got eight nominations or reggaeton stars Wisin & Yandel who have seven Billboard Latin nominations.
