Kanye West MTV

This year MTV Video Music Awards ceremony was a weak one in every way possible but it was the perfect place for Kanye West to express his grief saying, “MTV exploited Britney Spears and me!” The hip-hop/rapper reportedly said while chatting with a NYC DJ yesterday that MTV tried to end pop Celebrity Britney Spears’ career. He also said he felt like he got betrayed by MTV, because he convinced him into doing a performance from one of the remote suite locations, and not on the mainstage, in this way making it looking like he “so into everything that was going on in the show.” As you can imagine, Kanye West canceled scheduled performances/appearances on TRL and won’t be working with the network ever again. There is also an “inside” video footage on the Internet, with a quick search on youtube or google you can find it. (more…)

Rihanna

The R&B sensations Rihanna and Justin Timberlake took the main prizes at MTV Video Music Awards recently. Rihanna received the video of the year award for her Umbrella, while Justin Timberlake got awards for “Quadruple Threat of the Year” and “Male Artist of the Year.” The other winners are as follows: Best Collaboration: Beyonce featuring Shakira, Female Artist of the Year: Fergie, Best Group: Fall Out Boy and Best New Artist: Gym Class Heroes. Performances of Britney Spears, Timberlake adding vocals to 50 Cent’s “Ayo Technology” and Rihanna’s version of “Umbrella,” and a dance performance by R&B singer Chris Brown spiced up the night.

Wow - video of the year. This was definitely the most important one for me of the night… the most unexpected for me.
- said Rihanna -

It’s just exciting to see a new generation of artists really doing it, and doing it well. I think music is in a great place right now because we’re all doing what we want to do. So thank you for this award, MTV.

Britney Spears VMA Performance

Britney VAM

The so-long-awaited “spectacular” performance of Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Award was not so spectacular. The pop Celebrity comeback was not as it was rumored and confirmed at some point. However, I liked it! It was different from what I (as you) was expecting. She didn’t try to hide behind a good performance, she was just not ready to do it as she obviously didn’t have the enough energy and state of mind to do it properly. I appreciate she didn’t fall, or forget the lyrics, the steps… which means she was aware of what was going on. Therefore it could be the result of all the media pressure, her personal problems and fake celebrity friends.

It’s true, everyone was curious to see Britney’s comeback performance of “Gimme More” at the MTV Video Music Awards sadly for most people the moment was weaker then ever. She opened the 2007 VMAs live from Las Vegas with a declaration “It’s Britney, B**ch!” from the “Gimme More” song. With no trace of Criss Angel in Britney’s performance, the pop singer had many dancers-strippers around her, while she was looking distracted, nervous and bothered by something throughout the musical number - which is a little bit unusual and for a Celebrity like her level.

Meanwhile, the celebrity onlookers didn’t appear to be impressed P. Diddy and 50 Cent among others were looking both uninterested and amused. We all agree she should’ve done it better but my guess is that she had no interest to do it spectacular, it was more like “I don’t care, I am Britney Spears and you fellows are not.”

Britney Spears

After more and more reports say that Britney Spears’ planned a spectacular performance at next Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, now it is said that Timbaland who is the event’s musical director, doesn’t want the pop/trouble singer to perform at the ceremony. Why? Well not because Britney is not capable to perform, in the contrary Hip-Hop producer Timberland is said to be worried her comeback appearance could overshadow the other performances. Everything indicates Britney will perform her new single Gimme More featuring Mindfreak Illussionist, Chris Angel mirrors’ show.

Other celebrities who are set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards are Kanye West, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Chris Brown, Mark Ronson, T-Pain, Cee-Lo, Common and Gym Class Heroes.

Timbaland doesn’t want her on the show. He thinks it would be too much drama, and that she is going to take away from the other performers.
