Avril Lavigne sued by U.S. songwriters over Girlfriend

Avril Lavigne

Reports say that Canadian punk princess Avril Lavigne is being sued by U.S. songwriters who claim her smash hit Girlfriend sounds suspiciously like a track they took up the charts in the 1970s. The lawsuit filed July 2 in California’s Northern Federal District Court, alleges striking similarities to the 1979 Rubinoos song I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend. Avril is not the only one mentioned in the lawsuit, the group’s founder, Tommy Dunbar also names Lavigne’s publishing company, Avril Lavigne Publishing, and her songwriting partner, Dr. Luke.

Avril Lavign’ manager McBride, also CEO of Nettwerk Music Group, said that the musicologist he hired to study both tracks has found them completely different songs, however he admitted he would consider settling the suit out of court if the costs of defending the case turns up to be too high.

Fergie 4 million deal with Candie clothing company

Fergie

According to the reports, the Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie has accepted a 4 million deal to place Candie’s fashion line in her music. A good news for those who hate long music breaks, because due to the clothing company’s contract Fergie’s concerts will be from now on populated by “style advisers,” who apparently will re-dressing people who want to follow Fergie’s fashionable footsteps. Lets hope this won’t affect Fergie future albums and credibility, because according to Interscope her record sales are in decline.

With record sales in decline, you must find novel ways to make money out of the music. Candie’s will reach teens, but it has no say over exactly what Fergie will sing, or when. Fans might think she is just singing about candy. But it’s got to work in the song. Fergie does not sing jingles.

UPDATE: R&B Celebrity Fergie has denied claims that she plans to advertise a clothing range in her new songs.

50 Cent and Justin Timberlake team for a porn song

Timberlake

Sexy back no more! Justin Timberlake’s new song with 50 Cent is apparently about porn, according to British newspaper The Sun. Reports say that Justin is currently filming the video for the song, titled “Ayo Technology” with 50 Cent and Timbaland. The word ‘technology’ will replace in the song the word — “pornography”’. The Sun reports that the Justin and 50′ teamed for, how can I say… a disguised ode to porn. I know the record sales must go up, but what happened to the real music! The song and video which is being directed by Joseph Kahn, is all about falling in love with the star of a porn film, and is apparently based on the film The Matrix, where Justin, 50 Cent and Timbaland are all set to play secret agents. Here is one lyric: “I’m tired of using technology, why don’t you sit down on top of me.” You would think that they would have no trouble in finding real life ladies…

Update: Actually the song is called She Wants It, and it doesn’t stand up with nothing, just an ordinary song.

Producer Sean Garrett boosts Britney Spears’ pop comeback

Britney Spears

According to the news, producer Sean Garrett boosted the pop Celebrity Britney Spears’ pop comeback after he insisted the singer’s next single is “out of control.” Not long ago Britney Spears publicist revealed record executives had postponed Spears’ comeback album back to 2008. This decision sparked rumors that early studio work was far by good. Anyway the producer Garrett - he shared the Songwriter of The Year honor at the BMI Awards - has just completed sessions with Britney Spears, and he is more than sure that the pop Celebrity has created another pop masterpiece.

I’ve got this one record I’ve been holding for 10 months that everyone has tried to buy, but I stayed with Britney on it. I guarantee it will shake up the world. It’s up-tempo, out of control… It’s wowzers, produced by me and Bloodshy. I can’t give the title yet, but the record is done and definitely what people want to hear from her.
