Black Eyed Peas win big at American Music Awards

Nelly FurtadoAccording to the news, The Black Eyed Peas shined at American Music Awards two days ago but not for being present at the event, but for receiving three awards, best rap/hip-hop album, best rap/hip-hop group, and best soul/R&B group. The event, which was held at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, had surprise appearance of Pop Celebrity Britney Spears (who was reportedly very upset with host Jimmy Kimmel who took a fake K-Fed, crated him up in a box, and threw him into the ocean, calling him a “no-hit wonder” ) and Clay Aiken. Among those who performed at this year American Music Awards were Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z and Nelly Furtado.

This year World Music Awards ceremony, which took place in London for the first time, was hosted by at actress/singer Lindsay Lohan was received with boos from the audience. Reports claim the pop star/actress abandoned her duties at some point and individual awards presenters did her job. At the ceremony among winners the diva Madonna took home Best Pop Artist award, R&B Celebrity Beyonce won Best R&B Artist, Hip-Hop star Kanye West was named Best Hip Hop Artist while James Blunt has won two categories Best New Artist and Best-Selling British Artist.

Among other performers at the World Music Awards were also female celebrities like Beyonce, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado ( who won World’s Best Pop/Rock Artist ).

Music icon Michael Jackson appears at World Music Awards

The world’s biggest music icon Michael Jackson was back on the stage at World Music Awards in London last night, not for the great Thriller comeback as it was reported, only for failing to sing a few lines of his hit We Are The World. Joying a gospel choir performance of the 1985 song, according to the reports Michael Jackson barely said the line. World Music Awards ceremony Pop star Michael Jackson collected the Diamond Award and also a Guinness World Record for Thriller ( the biggest selling album of all time ) from R&B Celebrity Beyonce Knowles. However, R&B star Chris Brown opened for Michael Jackson, a remake of the Thriller video.

I’m greatly humbled by this award. It was my dream that thriller would become the biggest selling album ever. I thank God and you for it’s success. There have been so many who have loved and stood by me for the 25 years I have been in the entertainment industry. I’d like to thank my children particularly.

Josh Groban number one album in Canada

Josh Groban Awake

According to Nielsen SoundScan reports, Josh Groban’s new album, Awake, which was released on November 7, was the number one selling album in Canada for the week ending November 12, 2006, being Josh’s first number one album in Canada. Josh Groban - who will have his North American Awake tour in 2007 - took care of the writing and producing songs along with musical contributions from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dave Matthews, Eric Mouquet, John Ondrasiak, Marius DeVries, Imogen Heap, Herbie Hancock and of course David Foster. The singer’ first track from his new album named Awake is “You Are Loved” and was written by Canadian Thomas Salter.
