NAACP Jamie Foxx and Alicia Keys

R&B diva Mariah Carey, hip-hop star Kayne West and R&B celebrity Alicia Keys - who lead the nominations for the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) annual Image Awards, which took place in Los Angeles on 25 February - battled for best album but also they were competing in the best song category.While Jamie Foxx picked the award as best male musical artist, Mariah Carey, nominated for four awards, won best album - after not long ago she took home three Grammy Awards. The R&B celebrity Alicia Keys took home three awards: top female musical artist, top song and video awards for Unbreakable.

Among other winners are also Carlos Santana, who performed at the show, received the NAACP Hall of Fame Award while the Neville Brothers received the Chairman’s Award. Writer and businesswoman Susan Taylor was honored with the President’s Award.
